There may be ways to die that don't involve suffering. I'm not sure, I haven't experienced death yet.
But death most certainly involves the absence of pleasure. So, if you see pleasure and pain on a continuum (rather than as completely separate things) then death most certainly falls on the pain side.

Then where do you stand on injecting medicines?
What would you do if you had headlice or worms?
Self defense and self preservation and adequate reasons to destroy non-human animal lives, under some circumstances.
But no one NEEDS to eat meat.
